Sanvi Singh is a global health leader, student, and community member dedicated to eliminating stigma surrounding epilepsy and mental health. She has been recognized for her efforts through Yale Young Global Scholars, the Blue Ocean Student Entrepreneur Competition, and more. Before creating Youth Guard, she served on the board of No Stigma Network, a grassroots organization dedicated to improving the quality of life for those living with mental illness. As the academic liaison and sole youth board member, she found her voice for advocacy.
Sanvi's father lives with epilepsy, and the majority of her childhood was dedicated to being his caregiver. Her family endured judgment due to his physical inabilities and health from extended family and friends within her South Asian community. This resulted in her father feeling isolated, and he began to struggle with his mental health. As his health declined, she felt immense guilt for not being able to provide him with the proper community support that he deserved. The term "epilepsy" became a controversy within her home.
In August 2023, Sanvi created Youth Guard as a sophomore in high school. She was no longer willing to accept the stigma that lurked in her community, and she was adamant about creating change. With a care package program, card program, and epilepsy education services, Sanvi dedicated her time and effort to informing people on the reality of epilepsy and supporting epileptic children in her community.
As Youth Guard grew from home fundraisers and baked-goods sales to an international mission, Sanvi seeks to improve community-based care and mental health access worldwide, ensuring epileptic individuals have the support they need.
In addition to her involvement in the philanthropic community, Sanvi is a full-time senior in high school in New Jersey and an avid swimmer!
